WISE CLAIMS EARL'S SILVER CROWN FQ TITLE

Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif. is the 2005 Earl's Fast Qualifier Champion in USAC's Weld Racing Silver Crown Series. He posted the fastest qualifying time for Saturday's series finale at Rossburg, Ohio and vaulted past Dave Steele for the Earl's honors.

Additional top Earl's point earners last week included Levi Jones (National Sprint Cars at Rossburg, Ohio), Danny Stratton (National Midgets at Rossburg, Ohio), Shannon McQueen (Western Midgets at San Bernardino, Calif.), Damion Gardner (CRA Sprints at Phoenix, Ariz.), Jeff Sakowicz (Ford Focus Midgets at San Bernardino, Calif.) and James Robertson (Ford Focus Midgets at Lakeville, Ohio).

Earl's points will be up for grabs this week in races at Perris, Calif. (CRA Sprints), Terre Haute, Ind. (National Sprints), Ventura, Calif. (Ford Focus Midgets) and Seekonk. Mass. (Ford Focus Midgets).

Points are awarded at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9, 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1. When qualifying is not held for Ford Focus events, points are awarded based on a system of lineup points earned in the preliminary heats.

Each USAC National, Western and Ford Focus Midget Car Earl's Plumbing FQ Champion will be honored at USAC's Champions Night ceremony in Indianapolis. The National and Western FQ champs will receive $5,000 each, while the Ford Focus FQ champs will each receive $1,000.
