Jamie McMurray is furiously trying to get out of his contract with Chip
Ganassi Racing and the No. 42 Dodge. Two teams are interested in hiring
McMurray if he managed to be released from his obligation to Ganassi.
Rumor is the McMurray is the top pick to pilot the third Gibbs team next
season if everything comes together.
AOL exits to sponsor elsewhere: AOL is leaving the sport of NASCAR next
season to become the title sponsor of another stock car racing series.
While they will remain in the sport on a lesser basis than the head sponsor
of the No. 30 Richard Childress Racing Chevy, RCR has been shopping for a
new sponsor.
Word is that they found one this week and are good to go for next season.
No. 38 pit crew continues to shine: The No. 38 Robert Yates Racing Ford
team continue to shine in the PowerAde pit crew competition. The team has
helped Elliott Sadler to victory lane twice this season, and currently
leads the standings by 27 points over the No. 8 DEI Chevy team.
The crew officially nicknamed "the chocolate thunder" by M&M Mars has won
the PowerAde deal five times this season.
Crew chief set for No. 11 Gibbs team: Joe Gibbs Racing has reportedly hired
Dave Rogers, chief engineer for Tony Stewart, to crew chief their third
team next season.
