March 13, 2001 (North Hollywood, Calif.) - Team Walker Motorsports teammates Mike Walker and Sean Woodside are both gearing up for action this weekend at two of Southern California's most popular short tracks.

Both Walker and Woodside will appear on Saturday evening in the Super Late Model 100 at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway's NASCAR Advantage Ford Opening Night 2001.

Sunday morning, they will be off to Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. where Woodside is slated to appear in the Foods Co 200 NASCAR Winston West event and Walker will compete in the season-opening NASCAR Late Model 100.

Woodside's expertise at Mesa Marin is well known. His most recent win at Bakersfield's famous 1/2-mile oval came in the March 2000 Southwest Series event, the Foods Co 100, during his one-year hitch in that series.

Woodside was one of Mesa Marin's strongest Late Model competitors prior to his Winston West career, and won the October Classic Winston West event in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Woodside also won the Bud Pole Award in both 1997 and 1998 in the October Classic events.

"It's always fun going back to my old home track," said Woodside. "I've won a lot of races there, and I hope to win another one on Sunday."

"We're going to be pretty competitive," Walker commented. "We've got two cars capable of finishing in the top three, capable of winning if everything goes right. Sean is, and, hopefully, I am also, capable of doing that job."

Walker will run a full Super Late Model schedule at Irwindale Speedway in the 2001 season. He began his racing career in the Pomona drags at age 17, where his was the fastest non-import car in 1996. From 1997 to 1999, he competed at Orange Show Raceway in San Bernadino, Calif. where he won two rookie-of-the-year awards in Late Model cars and Spec Trucks. Walker finished in a respectable 16th place in the 2000 Super Late Model season at Irwindale Speedway.

The Foods Co 200 will be televised tape delayed on Fox Sports Net, date and time to be announced.
