KANSAS CITY, Kan.-- Brandon Ash captured his first career NASCAR Winston West Series victory by winning the KANSAS SPEEDWAY.COM 150 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday.

The win netted $20,111 for the 24-year-old second-generation driver, who was making his 58th start in the series.

Ash took charge on lap 61 and pulled away to cross the finish line 1.209 seconds ahead of a hard-charging Mike Duncan. They were followed to the line by Eric Norris, John Metcalf and Mike David.

Several front-runners suffered misfortune early in the event, with last year's race winner, Frank Kimmel, being eliminated in a lap one accident. Although Metcalf was also involved in the incident, he bounced back for a top-five finish.

Pole sitter Austin Cameron avoided series damage in the initial incident, but was later caught up in a four-car tangle in turn two that left him sidelined. The 17th-place finish that resulted, dropped Cameron from the lead in the championship standings. Norris now leads Cameron in the point standings 654 to 642.
