LAS VEGAS - Drivers pulling double duty on NASCAR Weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be racing for more than just trophies and prize money.

Thanks to The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino, drivers who race in both the NASCAR Winston West event at the Bullring and the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race will compete for three nights of luxury at the Strip resort in The Venetian Challenge.

Officials at The Venetian have agreed to offer any driver who can finish in the top three in both the Feb. 28 NAPA 300 and Sunday's UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 the following: a three-night stay in the hotel's Penthouse suite and the driver's spouse or significant other will receive a $20,000 shopping spree in the Grand Canal Shoppes.

"What a great opportunity," said Chris Powell, LVMS executive vice president and general manager. "The Penthouse suite at The Venetian is quite a palace, and I've done some window shopping in the Grand Canal Shoppes, so I know what you could get for $20,000 there. We're very appreciative of The Venetian's willingness to participate in our NASCAR weekend."

"We're excited to be part of the positive energy surrounding the NASCAR events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Brian Parrish, vice president of marketing for The Venetian. "This is a fantastic opportunity for a lucky race car driver to have a great weekend of racing followed by a great visit to The Venetian."

The NASCAR Winston West Series will be joined on Feb. 28 by the Grand American Modifieds and Legends Cars.
