ROSEBURG, Ore.-- Austin Cameron battled back from two early mishaps to win the NAPA 200 NASCAR Winston West Series race at Douglas County Speedway on Saturday night.

Cameron charged into the lead on lap 196 and held on through a wild scramble in the final laps to win by .320 of a second over Eric Norris.

Although he started on the outside of the front row, Cameron found himself a lap behind the leaders early after spinning around on lap 26. He charged his way back onto the lead lap and began a steady march to the front, but fell back after a second spin. Cameron quickly recovered and continued his charge forward-- making his way from fifth to first in the final 40 laps.

Eric Holmes also moved to the front in the late stages to take third. Brandon Ash finished fourth, while Mike Duncan finished fifth.

The victory, Cameron's fifth of the season, allowed him to shave 10 points off the lead held by Norris in the championship standings. Norris leads with 1,490 points to Cameron with 1,454, with one race remaining to decide the 2002 championship.
