Goodyear to supply tires for NASCAR Touring's elite tier.
AKRON, Ohio (Nov. 24, 2002) -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced today that it will be the tire supplier for the Elite Tier of NASCAR's Touring Division for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
Goodyear will supply the tires for the Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring and for the NASCAR Winston West Series.
"The NASCAR Touring Division has been a large part of our short track racing program," said Greg Stucker, director, racing tire sales and marketing. "We are very pleased to continue that association through both the Busch North Series and the Winston West Series."
The Busch North Series raced solely on Goodyear tires for the first time in 2002. The result was 11 track qualifying records, and close, competitive racing not seen on the series in years. Goodyear was last involved with the Winston West Series in 2000, and has had a similar record of success with that involvement.
Racing veteran Cal Lint, Goodyear's marketing manager for contract sales, will continue as the point man for the Busch North Series program and Chad Fletcher, marketing manager, racing division, will work with the Winston West Series in addition to handling the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division.
The Busch North Series began in 1987. It competes on tracks in the Northeastern United States and Canada. The Winston West Series is one of NASCAR's oldest circuits, having started operations in 1954 when it was known as the Pacific Coast Late Model series. It operates throughout the Western U.S.
Goodyear also is the sole tire supplier for NASCAR's Winston Cup Series, Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and Goody's Dash Series.
