QUALIFYING: Bowles Tops Field In Qualifying
Gunning for third consecutive win in Somona event

SONOMA, Calif. -- Jason Bowles won the Coors Light Pole Award in NASCAR K&N Pro Series West qualifying at Infineon Raceway on Friday as he continues his quest for his third straight win in the Thunder Valley Casino Resort 200.

Bowles, competing in only his second series race this season after winning the championship last year, turned in the fast time on the 1.99-mile road course with a lap of 78.127 seconds (91.697 mph). It marked his 10th career series pole.

"It was a good lap," Bowles said of his qualifying run. "The car drove really, really good. We made some adjustments there at the end of practice, because we didn't get a chance to make a mock run. The car drove substantially better. I'm really happy with it. The guys did a great job. It's a new car that we just got last week. I'm really looking forward to the race tomorrow."

Road race ace Boris Said was second quickest in qualifying, turning a lap of 78.570 seconds (91.180 mph). He was followed by David Mayhew, who enters the event leading the championship standings; Greg Pursley; and David Gilliland, who is gunning for another win to go with his 2007 victory at Sonoma.

Rounding out the top 10 in qualifying were Tom Dyer, Brandon Davis, Andrew Ranger, Luis Martinez Jr., and Paulie Harraka.

Bowles will lead the 37-car field to the green flag at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
