Antelope, CA - Eric Holmes finished second when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West raced at Portland International Raceway on July 18th. He piloted the No. 20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry from Bill McAnally Racing to a 74-point lead in the pursuit for the 2010 series championship.

The NAPA team worked hard preparing the No. 20 NAPA Toyota for the challenging 12-turn road course in Portland, Oregon. Holmes had the NAPA entry in the top ten during both practices and qualified on the outside of the third row for the race. During the first caution, Holmes radioed in that the car was good, and then went to pit road for tires and fuel beginning at lap 17 while under a caution period. (NASCAR rules have the state that the teams may not get fuel and tires on the same pit stop.) At lap 36, the No. 20 was in the top-five. Holmes brought the car home in second.

"We had a great points day," said Holmes. "The team did a great job preparing the NAPA Toyota. We knew we weren't the fastest car but the team made great calls in the pits and I just drove a smart race. Days like this you have to have a little luck and race smart that's what it takes to win championships "
