Notes - June 29
* Series representation . The NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series was well represented in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event at Infineon Raceway on Sunday. Six of the competitors have competed as regulars and won in the West Series. Kevin Harvick was the 1998 series champion with five wins. Brendan Gaughan had eight victories en route to back-to-back series championships in 2000 and 2001. With nine wins, Austin Cameron is the leading money winner in the series and is currently third in this year's championship standings. Jim Inglebright scored a win when he ran the full schedule last season. A regular in the series between 1998 and 2002, Brandon Ash won on a superspeedway in 2002. Among 52 starts in the series, Larry Gunselman notched a win in 1996.
* One, two, three . Three of those drivers - Harvick, Ash and Cameron - finished one, two, three respectively in the last visit by the West Series to Sonoma in 1998.
* More from the West . In addition to the regular series alumni, several other drivers from Sunday's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup field have also competed in a West Series race. Ken Schrader is a frequent visitor to the West Coast series - scoring 10 wins since 1993. Among several visits to the West Series, Michael Waltrip won the inaugural race at Pikes Peak International Raceway in 1997. Another visitor to victory lane was Ricky Craven, who won at Fontana in 1999. Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch and P.J. Jones raced in the West Series early in their careers, meanwhile.
* Like father, like son . David Gilliland - the leading candidate for this year's Auto Meter Rookie of the Year Award in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series - scored a major victory with a win in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series race at Sonoma on Saturday. His father, Butch Gilliland, scored two wins in the West Series on the winding road course (1996 and 1997).
