Scott Lynch Looks for his First Win of the Season

Fontana, Calif - When Round 3 of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series, the King Taco 200, springs into action at California Speedway, Saturday morning, May 1, defending champion Scott Lynch will be looking for his first win of the 2004 season.

"We made up incredible ground at Round 2 at Mesa Marin Speedway in Bakersfield, Calif.," says Lynch whose third place finish jumped him from 26th to 9th in the point's chase. "And, now we are looking to do it again. We tested at California Speedway a few weeks ago and we were right on the money. Our Yerf-Dog/Orleans Racing Dodge is in fighting trim and we are ready to do the deed."

Familiar with all the ins and outs of 2-mile California Speedway, Lynch is definitely looking forward to this upcoming battle. "I like racing at Fontana," he says. "It suits my style of driving. You can pass both high and low and the racing is really fun. Our Kroyer Racing engines provide us with great horsepower and that is important at this type of track. Another plus is that California Speedway is similar to Las Vegas and that's where I took my first win in the West Series. We qualified in fourth here the last two times out. Hopefully this time we can nab the pole and grab the lead right off the bat. So far, out of eight races, seven different drivers have won at California Speedway, it would be awesome to be number eight."

And, there is no doubt that Lynch and Orleans Racing are well versed in putting their 08 Yerf-Dog Dodge up in front. Last season, not only did they earn both the Championship and Raybestos Rookie of the year honors, but they claimed the Bud Pole Award for taking the most poles, and qualified in the top four for every race except one. Lynch's determination to bring home a second Championship for Yerf-Dog is obvious. "Flying their colors is definitely an honor," says Lynch. "And it is certainly a pleasure to work with a company with such a fine reputation. They will be on hand this weekend and that gives me even more impetus to do well. We will be ready to fight the field for the win."

Qualifying for the King Taco 200 will take place on Thursday, April 29 beginning at 3:30 PM with racers taking the Green Flag for the 100-lap/200 mile event on Saturday, May 1 at 9:20 AM. HDNet will air the race live and SPEED Channel will cover to air on May 15 at 9 AM (PT).
