Cameron Wins NASCAR West Race at Evergreen Speedway

MONROE, Wash. (July 21, 2004) -- Austin Cameron and Mike Duncan are in the midst of a terrific battle for the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series championship, as evidenced in Cameron's victory in the Coors Light 200 at Evergreen Speedway.

The victory was Cameron's second straight and it came in a race where Duncan also led. Duncan leads the standings with 816 points and Cameron is next with 791.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the Grand National Division, which also includes the Busch North Series. The tire package supplied at Evergreen was the same one used by the BNS on the same night at Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, Conn.

Cameron led twice at Evergreen for a total of 120 laps. He averaged 66.799 mph around the .646-mile oval.

Jeff Jefferson finished second, .362 of a second behind the winner. Duncan finished third and collected his 16th straight top-10 finish in West competition. Kerry Earnhardt, son of seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Dale Earnhardt, finished fourth and Scott Gaylord was fifth.

David Gilliland posted the best lap in qualifying, averaging 98.588 mph. The race attracted 27 cars.
