HOLMES WINS POLE, RACE AT DOUGLAS COUNTY

ROSEBURG, Ore. (July 14, 2008) -- Eric Holmes grabbed the lead with eight laps remaining and held off Johnny Borneman to cap a nearly perfect performance in the NASCAR Camping World Series West Toyota/Bi-Mart Firecracker 150 at Douglas County Speedway.

Holmes led 105 laps of the 150-lap event after setting a track record in qualifying and starting first. He extended his lead in the championship standings.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Camping World Series West and East divisions. The same line of bias-ply tires supplied for the Camping World Series teams are also used by the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

Holmes averaged 62.616 mph for the race and beat the second-finishing Borneman by .427 of a second. It was his fourth victory of the season. His qualification record (90.168 mph) marked the fourth time this year he has led time trials.

Jason Bowles, who led 40 laps, finished third. David Mayhew was fourth and Jeff Barkshire finished fifth.

Holmes leads Bowles 1,331-1,260 in the title hunt.
