PHOENIX, Ariz. - Burney Lamar turned in the fastest lap of 47 entries at Phoenix International Raceway on Wednesday to capture his fifth Bud Pole Award of the season in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series.

Lamar, who lapped the one-mile D-shaped oval at a speed of 131.449 mph, will lead a 42-car field to the green flag on Thursday in the Cruise America 125 - the final event on this year's series schedule.

He edged his teammate, Craig Raudman, who will start alongside Lamar on the outside of the front row. Eddy McKean and Ken Schrader will make up the second row, with Jim Pettit II and Auggie Vidovich Jr. lining up in row three.
