COLORADO NATIONAL WELCOMES PAST WINNER VIDOVICH FOR COMBO RACE

LAKESIDE, Calif. (June 2, 2005) -- Auggie Vidovich II makes a return to Colorado National Speedway (CNS) this Saturday, June 4, where he scored two wins on the Erie, Colorado 3/8-mile short track - August 2001 and August 2000.

Vidovich, 24, is looking to continue his momentum this weekend after two recent back-to-back wins (Mesa Marin and Stockton 99) and a second (Mesa Marin) dropping him down to second in the championship points chase - only nine points out of first place.

The No. 11 Centrifugal Technologies, Ultra Custom Boats, Ransom Brothers True Value Lumber Chevrolet with Mike Harvick in charge continues to have the key setups at each track giving the 2003 NASCAR Elite Division Southwest Series Champion the added edge for the great finishes so far.

This weekend's race will be a face off between the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Southwest and Midwest division drivers - a first for the two series racing together in the combined series format. Thirty-six drivers from the Southwest and Midwest Series' will attempt to secure one of the thirty-two starting positions for the 150-lap race.

"Qualifying will be everything this weekend," said Vidovich of the Bud Pole Qualifying, scheduled for 4:50 p.m. Saturday, will determine the top-20 starting positions. Immediately after time trials, the remaining drivers who did not earn one of the top-20 positions will compete in a 20-lap qualifying race. The top-6 finishers will advance from the 20-lap race and fill positions 21-26 on the starting grid. Positions 27-32 remain for provisionals.

The Lakeside, California driver is one of three Southwest Series drivers who have each won two events at CNS (Vidovich 2001 and 2000), M.K. Kanke (1999 and 1997), Rick Carelli (1995 and 1992).

Special thanks to Ransom Brothers True Value Lumber, Spy, Impact Racing Products, and Ron's Rear Ends for their continued support.

The Southwest Series heads down south to Irwindale Speedway June 18 before joining the NASCAR Nextel Cup Division at Infineon Raceway June 25.
