Pettit is King of the Hill After CNS Triumph

DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. (September 12, 2004) Jim Pettit II of Prunedale, Calif. reclaimed the top spot in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series standings after scoring his third victory of the season at Colorado National Speedway August 21. Pettit has eight top ten finishes in ten starts this season completing a series high 1,244 laps of 1,246 contested.

Pettit enters his fifth full-time season on the series and after two championship third place finishes the former dirt track ace is looking for his first series crown. Pettit leads former series champion Craig Raudman of Bakersfield, Calif. by a mere 25 points going into round eleven of the 14-race championship series. Raudman's teammate Burney Lamar holds down the third position in the standings followed by Eric Holmes and 2002 Series champion Eddy McKean.

Through ten races this season there has been seven different winners {Pettit (3), Raudman (2), Lamar (1), McKean (1), David Gilliland (1), and Jeff Seifert (1)}. Eleven drivers has started all ten races with Pettit scoring a series leading eight top ten finishes. Pettit also top the money list with more than $25,000 race and purse winnings.
