ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA.-Officials at St. Augustine Speedway have canceled the PARTS Pro Truck Arrow 100 presented by Raceday event scheduled for tonight and Saturday night and all local division races scheduled for this weekend due to the imposing threat of heavy rain in the area being generated by Hurricane Irene to our south.
"At one point last night I thought there was a chance that this storm could have moved far enough east and let us race as scheduled," said Speedway Manager Louis Smith. "But after re-examining the status of the storm and the projected track throughout the night and this morning, we felt that the best course of action was to catch these teams before they got all the way down here and turn them back towards home. It just doesn't look very promising from a weather standpoint."
As of this morning no date had been established for the rescheduling of this event but as soon as a suitable time can be arranged, those dates and times will be made available.
Next Saturday, Oct. 23, the Speedway will get things fired back up with round three of the world famous Top Gun Challenge, and it's Fan Appreciation Night at the Speedway with free prizes and surprises for all the fans in attendance. Plus, as an added attraction the drivers from the Hobby Stock division will take over as the Speedway officials and the officials will get behind the wheel of those wild and woolly Hobby Stocks for a 10-lap Roll Reversal Run for Fun.
Grandstand gates for the Oct. 23 events will open at 3:30 with qualifying at 6 and the features will roll off at 7:30.
