NASCAR WHELEN SOUTHERN MODIFIED TOUR SEASON FINALE MOVED TO ACE SPEEDWAY

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 30, 2005) -- NASCAR has announced a major schedule change for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. The season finale, originally scheduled for Oct. 29 at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway, will now be held at Ace Speedway, in Altamahaw, N.C., on the same date. The 150-lap event will conclude the Tour's inaugural season, which began March 26 at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C.

"A mutual decision was made to change the schedule," said NASCAR Director of Regional Racing Development Don Hawk. "The Tour has had a great run in its first season and we've had great support from our teams, tracks, drivers, sponsors and fans. We look forward to working with Hickory Motor Speedway in the future and expect another great race at Ace to finish out the season."

In the Tour's last visit to Ace, which included twin 100-lap races on Sept. 5, points leaders Burt Myers and Junior Miller each picked up victories at the 4/10-mile track.
