NASCAR HIRES FORMER L.A. SPARKS COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR TO MANAGE MEDIA OUTREACH FOR THE WEST
Kristal Shipp to be based in NASCAR's Los Angeles office

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2005) -- The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) announced today the hiring of Kristal Shipp as Manager of Media Outreach for the West. She will be based in NASCAR's Los Angeles office and will be responsible for communications planning and managing all media outreach efforts to raise awareness about NASCAR in the West.

"Kristal is a great addition to our team," said NASCAR Vice President of Corporate Communications Jim Hunter. "She gives NASCAR a fulltime presence in the West who will work closely with the media, the tracks, sponsors and partners.

Prior to her position with NASCAR, Shipp was Communications Director for the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks for five seasons. Before that, she was the Associate Media Relations Director at Long Beach State University.

In addition to her public relations responsibilities, Shipp will work closely with NASCAR's brand marketing team to develop and execute communications to support marketing outreach initiatives.
