SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (May 20, 2003)-- The Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway tradition of racing excitement continues May 31 as the NASCAR Kodak Southeast Series visits for the Armed Forces 150 presented by Coors Light. In addition to the 150 laps the Kodak Southeast Series cars will turn, South Boston's Late Models will compete for 150 laps. The Sheetz Limited Sportsman division will also be in action for twin 50s.

The Kodak Southeast Series may appear to be a new division, but it is the former Hills Bros All Pro Series--just under a new name. Kodak joined the series at the beginning of the 2003 season, and NASCAR realigned the series into its newly formed Elite Division. Along with the Kodak Southeast Series, the Featherlite Southwest Series, Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series and International Truck and Engine Corp. Midwest Series (formerly the RE/MAX Challenge Series) all comprise the Elite Division.

The Kodak Southeast Series cars are much like South Boston's Late Model cars. The cars in both divisions have the same wheelbase and roughly the same engines in terms of cubic inches. The Kodak Southeast Series cars have metal on fiberglass bodies and are lighter than their Late Model brethren. The Late Model rules do not permit fiberglass bodies.

Grandstand gates for the May 31 Armed Forces 150 presented by Coors Light open at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying is at 5 p.m., and racing starts at 7 p.m. Adult general admission tickets are $15, and reserved seating is $25. Youth age 10 to 15 pay $10, and children nine and under are free.

In 2003, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway celebrates 46 years of racing excitement and affordable family entertainment.
