(Woodstock, GA) Justin Wakefield, driving the #98 Gang Run Direct Ford Taurus finished 15th in the NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series season opening Autozone Spring Classic 150 at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, TN.
Wakefield qualified and started the Gang Run Direct sponsored Ford for the 150 lap event in 11th position.
"We had a good run going in the Gang Run Direct Taurus until we got caught up in an accident," commented Wakefield. "We were running around 10th or so, and then a few of the cars up front got together and that put us towards the back. We were running well with the eventual top-5 finishers, but it was just one of those racing situations."
This was Justin's 11th career NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series start and his second season on the NASCAR sanctioned tour.
"We had a top-5 car at Nashville, and I felt that we could have been a contender. Our performance before the accident showed that we are on the right track, but we just have to avoid those accidents to be around at the end of the race." stated Justin from his shop in Woodstock, GA.
Wakefield and the Gang Run Direct Carswell Motorsports team's next event will be this weekend (April 24) at Hickory Motor Speedway for a 150 lap NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Southeast Series event at the historic short track in Hickory, NC.
"We are looking forward to going to Hickory, but we have a long week ahead of us preparing the car," stated Justin. "My team and I are making every effort to make sure the car is ready to race this weekend," concluded Wakefield.
