NASCAR Elite Division, Kodak Southeast Series schedule announced.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 14, 2003) - NASCAR has announced the 2003 NASCAR Elite Division, Kodak Southeast Series schedule, which opens April 26 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C. The former All Pro Series, now re-named under sponsorship from Kodak, will visit nine race tracks this season including two superspeedway visits at Nashville Superspeedway and Kentucky Speedway.
"As part of the NASCAR Elite Division, the Kodak Southeast Series is a vital link between NASCAR and teams and tracks throughout the Southeast," said Chris Boals, NASCAR's director of regional touring series. "This schedule will showcase our teams and drivers in some very competitive events, and we're ready for a great season in 2003."
Following the season-opener at Greenville-Pickens, the series visits Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway and Big Daddy's South Boston (Va.) Speedway before back-to-back superspeedway events at Nashville and Kentucky, June 6 and 13. The series will then make its first ever visits to Kentucky Motor Speedway, a 3/8-mile oval in Whitesville, Ky. on June 13 and Ocala (Fla.) Speedway on July 2. Huntsville (Ala.) Speedway and return visits to Greenville-Pickens and Kentucky Motor Speedway round out the 2003 campaign.
The 2003 season is the 20th year of the Kodak Southeast Series, which began in 1984 as the All American Challenge Series. NASCAR first sanctioned the series in 1991. Beginning in 2003, the Kodak Southeast Series is part of NASCAR's new Elite Division. The Elite Division consists of four series using identical rules and specifications, including the Featherlite Southwest Series, International Truck and Engine Corporation Midwest Series, Kodak Southeast Series and the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series.
