Hills Bros. All Pro Series to visit Southern National Speedway on Sept. 14.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 23, 2002) - Southern National Speedway, in Kenly, N.C., has been added to the Hills Bros. All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule with a 150-lap event on Saturday, Sept. 14.

This Sept. 14 race marks the first Hills Bros. All Pro Series event at Southern National Speedway in four years. Derrick Gilchrist, of Raleigh, N.C., was the winner of the last Hills Bros. All Pro Series race there, which took place on May 2, 1998.

"We're excited to return to Southern National Speedway and the great competition its high banks provide," said Chris Boals, director of NASCAR Touring and the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. "The fans are in for a treat when the Hills Bros. All Pro Series returns September 14."

Southern National Speedway is a high-banked, 4/10-mile asphalt oval in the Southeastern Coastal Region of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. Southern National Speedway will host another NASCAR Touring event in 2002, with a 150-lap Goody's Dash Series race on Saturday, July 27.

NASCAR officials have also announced that the Hills Bros. All Pro Series event originally scheduled for July 5 at Lanier National Speedway, in Gainesville, Ga., has been cancelled. The Hills Bros. All Pro Series celebrates its 19th season in 2002. The season began with the March 9 season opener at Big Daddy's South Boston (Va.) Speedway, in which David Reutimann, of Zephyrhills, Fla., recorded his first career win in that rain-shortened event.
