Yakima, Wash. (May 31, 2003) - Starting fourth on the grid John Bender, of Monroe, Wash., took the lead on lap 87 in the Frank's Chevrolet 125 at Yakima Speedway in Yakima Wash., then raced for his second career NASCAR Elite Division, Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series win in his last three starts.

Wilbur Bruce, of Tacoma, Wash., making his first 2003 series start led the first 86 laps, and held for a solid second place performance.

Jason Jefferson, of Yakima Wash., won his first career NASCAR Elite Division, Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series Bud Pole Award with a fast time of 19.327 seconds/93.134 mph on the 1/2-mile oval.

Finishing fourth Jefferson also won Victory Circle Chassis rookie-of-the-race honors.

Gary Lewis, of Bothell Wash., starting nineteenth on the grid, finished in fifth position winning the Powerade "Power Move of the Race" award.

A twenty-eight car field started the 125 lap event. All but six were running when the checkers flew on the final lap.
