* NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series season concludes this weekend
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 17, 2003) -- With one week remaining in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series season, several competitors have already claimed track championships in 2003. While the New England Region champion won't be officially crowned until the season concludes Sept. 21, here's a look at some of the drivers who have already become title-winners at their home tracks:
Scott Bonney, North Chelmsford, Mass. -- At the beginning of the 2003 season, New Hampshire's Lee USA Speedway announced that the track's Late Model division would become the premier division, replacing the Pro Stocks. The change paid off for Late Model campaigner Bonney, who won the track championship after six victories this season.
Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, Vt. -- Last season, no one could stop Peter Daniels on his way to the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series New England Region and national championships. Daniels controlled Claremont (N.H.) Speedway's Modified division with 14 feature wins in 2002. This year, Jarvis put an end to Daniels' dominance (Daniels never rose higher than second in the track point standings this year) and won the Claremont Speedway track championship in the process.
Bobby Babb Jr., Windham, Maine -- Babb became Beech Ridge Motor Speedway's Pro Series track champion after one win and 12 top-five finishes at the Scarborough, Maine facility.
Jeffrey Crowley, Groton, Mass. -- Crowley competes at Star Speedway, a quarter-mile oval in Epping, N.H., where he drove to the track championship with three wins and eight top-five finishes.
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series track champions each receive a $1,000 bonus from POWERade, plus a commemorative track champion's helmet from Bell Helmets.
