NASCAR Official Doug Beeler Passes Away At The Age Of 71

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 27, 2009) -- Doug Beeler, an official in the NASCAR Camping World Series West, died Thursday at the age of 71.

Beeler of Marysville, Calif., served as an inspector and truck driver for the series.

"Doug was a very dedicated NASCAR official who will be sadly missed," said NASCAR Vice President of Corporate Communications Jim Hunter. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Beeler, a retired utility company supervisor, initially began working as an inspector and driving the NASCAR hauler for the series in 2002. Prior to that he drove the team hauler for Spears Motorsports.

Services are pending final arrangements.
