Pursley Peaks in NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Qualifying at PPIR

FOUNTAIN, COLO. (July 22, 2005) For much of the 2005 season Greg Pursley of Canyon Country, Calif. has been trying to find the consistency and success he had when he won the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series National Championship. Friday evening Pursley topped the speed charts in qualifying for the King Soopers Freedom "150" to win his fifth career Bud Pole Award and first since 1999 in NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division action. Pursley toured the one-mile paved oval of Pikes Peak Int'l Raceway in 27.270 seconds/132.013 mph. Todd Hansen, Jim Pettit II, Eric Holmes, and Tim Schendel rounded out the top five qualifiers in the special combination event bringing together to stars of both the Southwest and Midwest Series'.

"The car has been awesome all day," Pursley said. "We have struggled this season and this is a new car. The team has worked very hard all season and I feel we are turning the corner. We have the best starting spot for tomorrow and I hope we can keep it up front all day."

The King Soopers Freedom "150" is set to take the green flag at 10:30 am tomorrow morning.
