Rockford, Ill (April 28, 2002)--For the second time in four weeks, rain forced the postponement of the RE/MAX Challenge Series, NASCAR Touring season opener, Sunday afternoon at the Rockford (Ill) Speedway.

Originally scheduled for April 7, an all-day rain forced series and speedway officials to postpone the event to April 28. The Insight Digital 250 will now be made up on Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2002.

"I wish we could make it up sooner, but our schedule gets pretty tight from here," said Rockford Speedway president, Jack Deery.

The October 19 date ensures that Rockford Speedway will play host to the series season finale, as it did in 2001.

The RE/MAX Challenge Series competitors will now travel to Gateway International Raceway, May 4-5, in suburban St. Louis, for what they hope will be the kick off to the 2002 campaign. This year marks the 28th consecutive season of competition for the Midwestern based late model series. The Gateway International Raceway event will be run as a companion event to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and is scheduled for tape delayed broadcast on the SPEED Channel.
