Ricky Bilderback Continues To Lead In The Mid-America Region Of The Nascar Weekly Racing Series
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 18, 2001) - Ricky Bilderback of Rockton, Ill., continues to lead in the Competition Performance Index (CPI) standings in the Mid-America Region of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series. Bilderback, who competes in the Late Model division at Rockford (Ill.) Speedway, has earned 10 trips to victory lane this season. Bilderback has 15 top-five and 17 top-ten finishes in 19 starts at the high-banked .250-mile oval.
Gary Webb of Blue Grass, Iowa, holds down second in the regional standings. Webb, who competes in the NWRS dirt Late Model division at Dubuque (Iowa) Fairgrounds Speedway, has earned four wins this season. Webb has 16 top-five and 18 top-ten finishes in 18 starts at the .375-mile dirt oval.
Brad Powell of LaCrosse, Wisc., remains third in the region. Powell, who competes in the Late Model division at LaCrosse (Wisc.) Fairgrounds Speedway, has visited victory lane on three occasions this season. Powell has 15 top-five finishes and 19 top-ten finishes in 20 starts at the .625-mile oval.
Gary Blackburn of Fulton, Mo., Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, Mo.; Jeffrey Martin of Webster, Minn., Elko (Minn.) Speedway; Scott Lawver of Roscoe, Ill., Rockford (Ill.) Speedway; Steve Murgic of Rosemount, Minn., Raceway Park in Shakopee, Minn.; Thomas Rients of Ottawa, Ill., Peoria (Ill.) Speedway and Terry James of St. Louis, Mo., Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill., round out the top nine in the first tier of the Competition Performance Index (CPI) in the standings of NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Mid-America Region.
NASCAR officials have announced a seven-day modification to the current NASCAR Weekly Racing Series schedule regarding the conclusion of the point season, from September 16th to September 23rd. This modification has been granted to tracks which had events scheduled for last weekend and chose to postpone them due to the events of last week. The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series national championship will then be determined by a ranking of the regional champions using the Competition Performance Index (CPI). The top-50 drivers as rated by the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series CPI in the Atlantic Seaboard Region for the week of September 17 follow.
