Statement from Martinsville Speedway President W. Clay Campbell on the passing of NASCAR Vice President Jim Hunter

"Jim Hunter lived a life most people could only dream about. He loved what he did and he loved NASCAR and the people within it. He understood every aspect of this business. I was fortunate enough to know Jim through most every position he held with NASCAR. I'm sure I'm the only active track promoter that had the experience of negotiating NASCAR sanction agreements with Jim. They were always memorable. It was usually my grandfather and I on one side of the table and Jim on the other. A time or two the negotiations would end by Jim saying 'You need to go down the hall and see Bill Jr.'.Jim was a confidant to me and I will truly miss him. I would say the friendships he forged throughout his life are unparalleled by anyone today. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Ann and family."
