This event marks the first ever appearance for the Goody's Dash Series at Louisville Speedway.

It is also the most northern and the most western appearance on the 1998 Dash Series schedule.

The "Big D" layout at this facility should provide the teams with some unique challenges to set-up and gear selection.

Going into this event Robert Huffman holds a 344 point advantage over David Hutto in the Series points race but only 267 points separate Hutto from sixth in points. Hutto, Ricky Bryant, BJ Mackey, Jake Hobgood and Jon Redman are all clumped together in that race from second to sixth. Doc Brewer, 107 points behind Redman heads up the second pack of drivers of seventh in points back to thirteenth. In that group, Brewer, Donnie Apple, Jimmy Gross, Scott Weaver, Chris Hall, Eddie Kelley and Donnie Neuenberger are all within striking distance of each other separated by only 265 points.

Huffman needs only to finish in 22nd place or better in the four remaining races to claim his second Goody's Dash Series Championship. In the Rookie of the Year race, Donnie Apple now holds a seven point advantage over Chris Hall and a 19 point advantage over Eddie Kelley.

With ten points awarded to the highest finishing rookie candidate in each event, nine to the second highest finishing rookie, eight to the third, etc., the pressure here is on Hall to finish at least two rookie positions ahead of Apple in each of the last four events to become the first English born NASCAR Touring Series Rookie of the Year.
