NASCAR star Kyle Busch to race twice Saturday at the Bullring; Super Late Models to race 75 laps in final night for NASCAR points

LAS VEGAS - Kyle Busch has made quite a name for himself on the national racing scene, but it was in Las Vegas that the 18-year old racing phenom cut his teeth. The Durango High School graduate and NASCAR Busch Series driver will return to his roots and compete in both the Pro/Master Legends Cars and Super Late Models at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night for the final NASCAR points night.

Busch, the younger brother of NASCAR Winston Cup star Kurt Busch, will pilot the AmeriMist/ RC Racing Decals/7-Eleven Chevrolet in the 75-lap Super Late Model event and will compete as a teammate of Alex Haase in a 25-lap Legends Cars event. The 2000 NASCAR Sunbelt Region champion Dick Cobb will prepare the Super Late Model for Busch.

"Growing up in Las Vegas and racing at the Bullring for pretty much my entire life, I'm pretty excited to get back there," Busch said. "No matter what I do and where I race, I guess I could never get completely away from Super Late Model and Legends Cars racing in Las Vegas. We won both races on July 3, and hopefully we can do it again."

It will be Busch's third Super Late Model start at the Bullring this year. He won the 75-lap Super Late Model and 20-lap Pro/Master feature races July 3. In the season-opening KB Home Showdown in February, Busch finished second to Mike Cofer.

"It's a very rewarding experience to be associated with Kyle Busch and the sport of racing," said Aaron Olsen, AmeriMist president and chief executive officer." It is a privilege to have the opportunity and honor to partner with Dick Cobb and his son Rick at RC Racing Decals. Kyle's recent success is a representation of himself, and we are looking for a good day at the track."

"We're proud to sponsor any of Dick Cobb Racing Enterprises cars," said Rick Cobb, president of RC Racing Decals. "Having Kyle in it is just a plus. We'll have the perfect combination of talent, no fear and someone to make the car go fast (Dick Cobb)."

Bill Lambert, 7-Eleven general manager of store operations at Las Vegas Blvd. and Craig joined the effort to sponsor Busch.

"I'm excited to be involved in local racing and extremely excited to help bring Kyle back to the Bullring," Lambert said.

This year Busch competes in the NASCAR Busch Series and ARCA Series for Hendrick Motorsports. The 18-year-old was promoted Tuesday by Hendrick Motorsports and will drive the No. 5 Busch Series entry full-time next season.

Busch's appearance will highlight a full night of racing. IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Thunder Roadsters and Bandolero Cars also are on tap.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 7:15. General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and military, $3 for children 6-12 and children 5 and under are free.
