Slack, Gafforini split Late Model wins at Bullring.
LAS VEGAS-- NASCAR Late Model drivers Rod Slack and Scott Gafforini both posted wins at Hoosier Tire Night at The Orleans NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night.
Gafforini started on the pole for the first of two 30-lap NASCAR Late Model main events. Challenged by Rich Attisani, Mike Cofer and Thane Alderman the "Wizard" was able to hold his lead for his fourth win of the season. Alderman finished second followed by Cofer and Steve Anderson.
"I started on the pole," Gaffforini said. "Thane (Alderman) made a good shot at the end, but I held him off for the win."
After a flight from Texas, Slack posted his first NASCAR Late Model win in the second 30-lap main event. The Fort Worth, Texas resident started on the pole and was quickly challenged by Quality Motorsports teammate Mike Cofer. Slack was able to maintain his lead to capture the checkered flag. Cofer finished second followed by Ray Hooper Jr. and Alderman.
"I came here in October for the Legends Nationals and finished second in the Pro division and fell in love with this track right away," Slack said. "I had the opportunity to come and driver for Quality Motorsports and I took it."
Glen Burke dominated the NASCAR Outlaw Stock 25-lap main event. Mark Schottmuller finished second followed by Chris Bray and Len DeJoria
Spencer Clark won the 25-lap Legends Cars main event. Justin Johnson finished second followed by rookie Michael Fredericks and sophomore Aric Wiszt.
Lancaster, Calif. brothers Andrew and Austin Murphy finished first and second, respectively in the 8-lap Bandolero Cars main event.
Larry Black took the checkered flag in the Bullring Bomber main event.
