Kenny Brightbill joins list of modified drivers to start season on Sundays at Big Diamond.

Minersville, PA (April 5, 2002) - Kenny Brightbill of Sinking Spring, PA will be bringing his famous 19 modified to Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA to compete in the Sunday afternoon shows scheduled now through May 5.

This Sunday afternoon, April 7, will see Big Diamond Raceway open the track gates at noon for the 31st straight season. The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge on track racing action is scheduled to start at 2PM for the Modifieds, Sportsmen and Roadrunners. Pit gates will open at 11 AM while gates to the stands open at Noon.

Brightbill, a past Big Diamond track champion, decided just this week to dust off his PA Modified-legal 19, which ran well in last year's Big Diamond Coal Cracker 100, and prepare it for action at Big Diamond's early season Sunday shows. Big Diamond will operate on Sunday afternoons through the month of April and one week in May before shifting to the regular weekly Friday night schedule on May 10. Racing on April 7 and 14 will start at 2 PM while the events on April 21, April 28 and May 5 will start at 4 PM.

The Sunday afternoon activities will also draw a few invaders from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania to take on the regular list of expected Modified stars which includes defending champion Keith Hoffman, Duane Howard, Craig Von Dohren, Jeff Strunk, Ray Swinehart, Shawn Reimert, Jim Hauer, Kyle Weiss, Tim Fitzpatrick and many others including new 2002 season regulars Steve Bottcher and Rick Laubach. Billy Pauch is expected to be one of those invaders this Sunday, April 7, while others are unconfirmed at this point.

But the only way to see who will or will not be there and ready to go is to be there in person on Sunday.
