rain followed by cloudy skies and then a little glimmer of sunshine. Hopes were running high that there would be racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night but Ma Nature was just playing with them. Early in the afternoon more rain came and the forecast was for more of the same throughout the night. Event organizer Bruce Rogers already facing a difficult task to get the track in racing condition after rain throughout the night and early morning showers, threw in the towel and cancelled. The Voice Stream Wireless/Dodge Night of NASCAR Modifieds and Late Model stock car racing will not be rescheduled. The sponsors will be given the opportunity to participate in some of the late season events.
The loss of the Saturday night show paints a whole different picture for those in the battle for point championships as just two nights of NASCAR stock car racing now remain on the schedule. Having the racing cancelled was good news for the point leaders but it gave the challengers one less event in which to earn the valuable points needed to overtake the point leader and, perhaps, being able to grab the title.
Jeff Strunk, a former track champion, leads in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Modifieds and Randy Stoudt is on top in the Late Model point chase by a very narrow margin.
This Saturday, August 31, the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge returns to Grandview Speedway with a 7:30 p.m. starting time. NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models will be featured in at least 12 events of stock car racing with Kreiser Racing Fuels as the sponsor.
On Saturday, September 7th, the final point events of the season are presented for the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models with True Value Hardware as the sponsor. Starting time for the show, featuring at least 12 events of stock car racing, will be 7:30 p.m.
And on Saturday, September 14th, the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 for Modifieds will be presented. The $20,000 to win Classic will start at 7 p.m. with qualifying events. Rain date is Sunday, September 15th. Pre-race activities will include music, interviews and autographs starting at 3 p.m.
Advance tickets for the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 are on sale each race night leading up to the night of the event.
