Bechtelsville, PA August 4, 2001 . . . With several qualifying events already in the record books heavy rains, lightning and thunder that brought flood conditions forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to stop the Saturday night NASCAR stock car action at Grandview Speedway.
The Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lapper for NASCAR Modifieds, rained out on Saturday, will now be run as part of the Saturday, April 11th Auto Locator Night. Racing action will start at 7:30 p.m.
Included in the Saturday night show will be the continuation of qualifying events for the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models, the Cash Dash, and the Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lap championship for NASCAR Modifieds. The event pays $10,000 to win plus $500 in lap money posted by phillyracing.com. In addition there will be a 20-lap feature for the NASCAR Late Models.
Rain checks from the Saturday, August 4 show, will be honored even though the number of events run had exceeded the normal rain check policy. "It is our small way of saying thanks to the fans for their support," said track owner Bruce Rogers. This was the sixth Saturday night stock car event to be hampered or postponed because of weather. In addition fans coming out for this Saturday's Auto Locator Night. that do not have rainchecks, will be able to see all the action including the Forrest Rogers Memorial for just $15.00.
And there will be several extra opportunities this Saturday night for fans to win a ride in the Grandview Experience Two Seat Modified stock car.
Auto Locator is a weekly publication that offers deals on new and used vehicles, both privately owned and through dealers. In addition there is information on auto racing events including a weekly column by Ernie Saxton that gives readers the latest results and information on coming events at area short tracks.
Thursday, August 16, 7:30 p.m. the DIRT Super Series comes to the one-third-mile, clay banked Berks County oval with the Advance Auto Parts Traffic Jam 100 featuring many of the top names in dirt modified stock car racing.
