BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 17, 2000 . . . Gas prices are out of sight. The $2 gallon of gas may not be far off. The cost of going to a professional sporting event is almost out of reach for the average person. But that is not the case at local NASCAR Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA. Ticket prices will be the same low price that they have been for the last few years. In fact on Saturday, March 25, 12 noon, fans are invited to enjoy an afternoon of auto racing entertainment FREE. It will give you an opportunity to save your entertainment dollars to fill up the family sedan with gas. NASCAR Modifieds, Exide Shortrack Late Models, PA Sportsman, Sprint cars, Midgets and more will be featured in five hours of practice on the banked one-third-mile clay oval. Attendees will have the opportunity to see many of the top area racing talents testing their new equipment as they get ready for the new season. It is all free for those wanting to watch the excitement from the Grandview grandstands. And the concession stands will be open for the convenience of attendees. However you can also bring your own goodies, park for free, and enjoy a great afternoon of fun. IT IS ALL FREE. And for those who have not been out to see a live auto racing event, here is an opportunity to get a feel of the fastest growing spectator sport in the nation. On Saturday, April 1, 5 p.m. the season will officially open at the NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway with a tripleheader show of NASCAR Modifieds, Exide Shortrack Late Models and PA Sportsman. A 38-lap NASCAR Weekly Racing Series feature will top the show with $3,000 going to the winner. Many of the top names in area stock car racing will be participating including Ray Swinehart, defending champion Terry Meitzler, Kerry Kratz, Tom Mayberry, Ed Aikin, Jon Kellner, defending late model champion Jeff Teets, Dean Stoudt and a host of others. Admission prices for the tripleheader events being run on Saturdays at 5 p.m. throughout the month of April will be $12.00 for adults, $3.00 for youngsters 6 through 11 and kids under 6 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
