BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 26, 2001 . . . Mother Nature visited the Berks County (PA) area and brought rain. It made the farmers happy. The rain did not make the racers and their fans happy.

With heavy rains during the day, forecasts for more rain throughout the evening, event organizer Bruce Rogers was forced to "pull the plug" and postpone the Saturday night show of NASCAR stock car racing planned for Grandview Speedway.

The Arnold's GoKart Center/Gatorade sponsored night of racing for the NASCAR Modifieds and NASCAR Late Models will be rescheduled for a later date.

Kicking off the action filled month of June at the Bechtelsville, PA oval will be Black Horse Auto Body Night on Saturday, June 2. Featured will be the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models. Many employees and customers of Black Horse Auto Body will be in the stands to enjoy the night of racing.

DEKA Batteries, a big supporter of NASCAR motorsports, and sponsor of several racers at Grandview Speedway, will sponsor, for the first time, a full evening of NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models on Saturday, June 23. Officials of DEKA Batteries have many wonderful plans in the works to make this a very exciting evening for racers and fans.

Featured in the 7:30 p.m. show, promoted by Bruce Rogers and Bob Miller, will be the 410 Sprints and KARS 358 sprints. It is always a popular part of the race evening," said Bruce Rogers who promotes the Thunder on the Hill events along with Bob Miller. There is a Monday, June 25 rain date in place.

And closing out the month of June will be the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models, a 12 event program of stock car racing, on Saturday, June 30. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Going into the month of June, Craig VonDohren, a former champion, has the top spot in the point standings. VonDohren is driving a NASCAR Modified sponsored by Mrs T's Pierogies. And in the NASCAR Late Model division, four time champion Dean Stoudt is on top of the standings.

Coming up on Saturday, August 4, the Forrest Rogers Memorial for NASCAR Modifieds will be presented along with a full show of Late Models. $10,000 will be offered for the winner of the 40-lap Modified Champion.
