BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 12, 2000 . . . With four feature wins to his credit at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA, Terry Meitzler sits on top of the point standings in the chase for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series New England Region title. The Kutztown, PA driver has captured the $1,000 Gatorade Front Runner Award in the New England Region of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series and is SEVENTH in the national standings. Meitzler, who currently leads the Competition Performance Index (CPI) in the New England Region, moved to the top of the standings just two weeks ago, during his three race win streak at the Bechtelsville, PA oval. As of July 12, Meitzler has four feature wins, eight top-five and nine top- ten finishes this season. Should the defending Grandview Speedway track champion be able to hold on to the top spot in the NASCAR New England Regional Standings, he would pick up close to $50,000 as the regional champion, And he has a shot at winning the NASCAR National Championship which is worth over $150,000 out of the $1.7 million in posted point fund awards. On top of that Meitzler sits on top of the Motor Truck Equipment Co. Kenworth Cummins PA NASCAR Modified Championship Series (Grandview and Big Diamond Raceways). That championship is worth $15,000 out of a total of $40,000 in point fund money. And should Meitzler win the track championship at Grandview, for the NASCAR Modifieds, he would pick up another $5,000. Add it all together you the veteran racer has a chance to picking up approximately $70,000 at the end of the season in addition to the prize money earned during the season. Meitzler will be trying for another feature win on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway (Bechtelsville, PA) when the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series modifieds perform along with the NASCAR Exide ShorTrack Late Models. The Saturday, July 15th show, starting at 7:30 p.m. will be sponsored by Hatfield Quality Meats. There is a Sunday, July 16, 7 p.m. rain date. And coming up on Saturday, July 22, Easy Care Night will feature the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models along with the excitement of the fire snorting jet car of Doug Rose. The Green Mamba will "attempt" a quick run or two around the one third mile clay oval and will "toast" a few vehicles with the flames that shoot from the rear of the legendary jet car. Grandview Speedway is the home of the good old fashioned, no wimps allow, stock car racing. The NASCAR sanctioned oval is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
