BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 20, 2000 . . . For the fifth time this season NASCAR stock car racing at Grandview Speedway was rained out on Saturday night. With two days of heavy rain already saturated the grounds, a weather prediction of more to come, promoter Bruce Rogers decided to call the show at mid-day. "We could not get heavy equipment on the track. We would have needed some sun to help dry out the track even if the rain stopped. And the forecast was for more and more rain. We figured we would call it and give our fans and competitors a chance to make plans to do something else on Saturday night," said Rogers. "I may spend my evening praying for some dry weather.....on weekends." With just three shows run so far this season and racers needing to run at least 18 events to be included in the NASCAR Regional point fund awards, Rogers has announced that Grandview Speedway will now have Sunday night raindates for their Saturday shows starting with the June 3 Craftsman Tool Night. "We had made the decision to do away with the raindates. We had a raindate policy for two years and only used one. So at the beginning of this season we decided to eliminate the raindate. However when you have five shows already falling victim to the rain, we have to give our racers the opportunity to share in the NASCAR awards. We will be using the Sunday night raindates in June, July and August. The Sunday night shows will start at 7 p.m.," said Ernie Saxton, Marketing and Public Relations Director at Grandview. This Saturday, May 27, Arnold's Formula E Karting Centers (Oaks, PA) will be sponsoring the night and will have their own unique vehicle there to pace the feature events. At least 13 events of NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds and NASCAR Exide ShorTrack Late Models will be presented. It will also be Family Night with youngsters 11 and under being admitted free with a paying adult. Grandview Speedway is located just off Route 100 on Passmore Road, in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
