BECHTELSVILLE, PA APRIL 22, 2000 . . . If you drive by Grandview Speedway these days, you may see a "Help Wanted" sign out front. Event organizer Bruce Rogers is thinking of building an ark and is in need of some carpenters. Seriously though, for the third Saturday in a row rain washed out Saturday night NASCAR stock car racing at the one- third-mile, clay banked Berks County oval. All day heavy rains on Friday and Saturday turned the Grandview Speedway into a sea of mud forcing Rogers to cancel the HAPPY EASTER TRIPLEHEADER. " We spent considerable time this morning (Saturday) trying to get equipment on the track. It was impossible. Even the Easter Bunny was trying to find a dry place. To be rained out for three weekends in a row is something that has not happened here in a number of years. We'll try again next Saturday," said Rogers. "With no sun and rain being forecast throughout some periods of the rest of the day, we wanted to make a decision quickly. It is Easter weekend so we wanted to give our fans the opportunity to make other plans rather than keep them holding on to the highly unlikely possibility that we might get to run." The Saturday, April 29, show will be the final early season tripleheader. Featured will be NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, Exide Shortrack Late Models and PA Sportsman stock cars. Racing will start at 5 p.m. Grandview Speedway will get back to their regular season schedule on Saturday, May 6 with a doubleheader show of NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds and Exide Shortrack Late Models. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m. Admission prices for the Saturday night doubleheaders continue to be the same as they have been for a number of years. Adult admission is just $10.00, youngsters 6 thru 11 are admitted for just $3.00 and under kids under 6, with an adult, are admitted for FREE. The NASCAR sanctioned stock car racing facility is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA just 10 miles north of Pottstown.
