GATORADE PUTS UP CASH FOR DASH
Gatorade, the Official Sports Beverage of NASCAR, will recognize the mid-season points leader in the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series with their Gatorade Front Runner Award Saturday night July 5, following the one hundred lap main event at Summerville Speedway, SC. The recipient of the $2,500 Gatorade Front Runner Award is determined by which driver is leading the season long points standing at the mid way point of the schedule. This year, the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series will reach that point in their schedule following the Sky Fire Weekend at Summerville. "There is no more appropriate athlete to represent Gatorade than a race car driver." said Bill Schmidt, vice president of sports marketing for Gatorade Worldwide. "We're proud to sponsor The Gatorade Front Runner Awards to recognize athletes who perform under extreme conditions of heat and stress to reach their ultimate peak." NASCAR vice president of marketing and communications, Brian France added, "The Gatorade Company's involvement (with NASCAR) through The Front Runner Award provides competitors in each of NASCAR's twelve divisions with an extra opportunity for recognition and prize money during the year-long charge toward the season championship." Currently, Mike Swaim Jr. leads the Series' point standings. The second generation NASCAR Goody's Dash Series driver holds a 132 point advantage over Will Hobgood and a 160 point advantage over Will's son, Jake Hobgood. -30- FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT: NASCAR Pubic Relations, Tim Myers at 919-552-5823. tm
