Notes of Interest: Mike Swaim Jr. Has the opportunity at the Primestar 100, May 30, to become the first NASCAR Goody's Dash Series driver, since Larry Hoopaugh, to win more than three races in a row . So far, Swaim's miracle month of may has resulted in three consecutive victories at Lanier, Caraway and Tri-County speedways. Although three straight wins is not unprecedented, it is relatively rare. Only Hoopaugh and Dean Combs have ever won more than three straight races in a single season. Dean Combs was the first to accomplish this feat when he notched an incredible six wins in a row in 1981. But, incredible as that string of victories may have seemed at the time, Hoopaugh duplicated the six straight wins streak, the very next season. Since 1982, Michael Waltrip, Larry Caudill, Johnny Chapman and Mickey York have all put together a string of three victories in a season, but no one has been able to break the mystical, four win barrier. Swaim's chances for continued success here, may be slightly better than average, considering Mike won the last Dash Series event here at Florence last August. As incredible Swaim's good luck has been over the course of the last few races, Robert Huffman's luck has been equally, bad. Huffman has had a car capable of winning at every race this season, but mechanical woes and "wrong place, wrong time" scenarios have haunted Huffman since his win at Homestead in March. But the Claremont, NC native is traditionally strong at the early season races at Florence and he hopes to turn all that bad luck around in this race.
