Rookie driver wins second consecutive Coors Light Pole Award

JEFFERSON, Ga. -- Kevin Swindell grabbed the Coors Light Pole Award for the second straight race in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East action, turning the fast-lap in qualifying on Saturday in the inaugural series visit to Gresham Motorsports Park.

The 21-year-old series rookie from Germantown, Tenn., turned a lap of 17.152 seconds (104.994 mph) around the half-mile oval during time trials for the American Fence Association 150 presented by Mayfield Ice Creamier.

Swindell was also quickest last month at Lee USA Speedway in winning his first career series pole.

Defending series champion and current point leader, Ryan Truex, was second fast and will start on the outside pole. Truex had been fastest in practice earlier in the day.

Darrell Wallace Jr., was third quickest, followed by Michael Cherry and Sergio Pena. Ryan Gifford, Ty Dillon, Cole Whitt, Eddie MacDonald and Zach Germain round out the top five qualifiers.

Matt Kobyluck, who crashed hard coming out of Turn 3 in the afternoon practice and went to a back-up car, qualified 17th.

Truex enters the event with a 33-point lead over series rookie Wallace.

The green flag for the American Fence Association 150 is slated for tonight at 9 p.m.
