Rogelio Lopez Optimistic About New Car At Iowa Speedway's NASCAR Camping World Race

Newton, Iowa (May 17, 2008) - Rogelio Lopez left Iowa Speedway after last year's combination race between NASCAR's Camping World East and West Series with a sixteenth-place finish and the desire to improve on that for the two series' return. As Lopez and the TELMEX-sponsored Dave David Motorsports team prepares for the second running of Iowa Speedway's 200-lapper, having a brand new car to race gives the team optimism that it'll have a better race.

"We have a brand new car and shook it down a couple of days ago in Concord," he said. "It came out of that feeling pretty good. We haven't raced with it yet, but it should be a good piece. We've been spending the last five months putting it together with all the best parts available. I'm confident about how well it'll run."

Iowa Speedway is a 7/8ths mile superspeedway located east of Des Moines. It's a state-of-the-art track that'll host a full field of race cars from both coasts.

"This track is pretty new and the facilities are awesome," Lopez said. "I'm very happy to be here again and I think it'll be an exciting race. There'll be 44 cars starting so there'll be plenty of traffic to work around, but hopefully we'll be at the front and staying out of trouble. I have good expectations about this race. This is our second time here and we learned a lot from the last time here that should help us out this weekend. I have some friends from Mexico coming as well and we'll make a fun weekend out of it."

Iowa's Camping World Series race weekend begins with practice on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Central time. Another round of practice will be held Sunday morning, with qualifying to follow at 12:30 p.m. The race goes green at 4:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on HDNet television.
