ICKLER WINS CAMPING WORLD EAST RACE AT GREENVILLE PICKENS

GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 14, 2009) -- Greenville Pickens Speedway is among NASCAR's oldest member tracks. Some of stock car racing Hall of Fame elite made their marks at the venerable venue.

But some of the sanctioning body's young guns made a big impression over Easter Weekend.

Brian Ickler lost the lead three times, then got it back on every occasion and finally won the NASCAR Home Tracks 150 race in the season-opening race for the NASCAR Camping World Series East at the historic speedway.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Camping World Series East and West divisions. The tiremaker provides the same line of bias-ply tires for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, the most popular stock car series in that nation.

In collecting his fourth Series win Ickler, 23, had to stave off the repeated efforts of veteran Eddie MacDonald. MacDonald narrowly took the lead three times on restarts, only to give way to Ickler shortly thereafter. MacDonald eventually finished third in the highly competitive race.

Jody Lavender was second, less than a second behind the winner. MacDonald was third, followed by first-time starters Josh Richards and Brett Moffitt.

Moffitt claimed the Coors Light Pole Award with a lap averaging 86.994 mph around the half-mile oval. There were 29 starters and Ickler averaged 54.778 mph over the 150-lap distance.
