Huffman, Toyota Win Again at Lowes Motor Speedway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 17, 2003) - Robert Huffman has always considered Lowes Motor Speedway one of the most enjoyable tracks that the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series visits annually. On Saturday, May 17, Huffman found that the track is thrice as nice with his third win in a row at the Charlotte track and a victory in the EasyCare 100.

"I always come racing here, especially when I can win in front of a lot of friends and family," said the native of nearby Claremont, N.C. "All the guys on the team, everyone at Toyota and TRD, and my engine builder Don Miller, they all did a great job."

Huffman, a four-time series champion, qualified in sixth position and quickly worked his way into the lead within seven. Various competitors made runs at his lead, but Huffman parlayed the excellent handling of the No. 37 White House Apple Juice Toyota Celica and great restarts after six yellow flags to leading the final 48 laps.

The victory, Huffman's second of the three-race season, increases his lead in the championship points race over Justin Hobgood, who finished ninth. It was also his 40th career Goody's Dash Series victory, which is second all time.

NASCAR Goody's Dash defending champion Jake Hobgood, who made his second start since switching from a Pontiac to his new No. 64 Germain Toyota Celica, also earned a top-10 finish when he worked his way up from 21st to take seventh place. Hobgood made his Toyota debut in the season's second race in Savannah, Ga., when he took the pole position.
