Charlotte, N.C. (April 30) - Officials at Charlotte Motor Speedway announced today that the Tom Johnson Camping Center / Easy Care Vehicle Service Contracts 100 for the Goody's Dash Series, a NASCAR Touring Division, will be televised live on Fox Sports Net owned and operated stations nationwide. Scheduled for Wednesday, May 20 at 8:30 p.m., this will be race No. four on the Goody's Dash Series 20 race schedule and will be the second nationally televised event of the season.
The Goody's Dash Series has a long and storied history of events at this magnificent 1.5-mile high-banked oval dating all the way back to the formation of the Series in 1975. In fact, so popular was Dash Series racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway that from 1985-1988 the Series was even named the Charlotte/ Daytona Dash Series.
In the July event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway last year fans witnessed a first time winner, rookie Christian Elder accepting the laurels for his well-deserved victory in what was certainly one of the most exciting races of the season. This year the event has been moved to the May date to be run in conjunction with the Coca-Cola 600 and the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series' Carquest Auto Parts 300.
In test sessions for the Goody's Dash Series teams earlier this week, both the new V-6 powered cars and the tried and true four cylinder entries unofficially posted speeds in excess of 158 mph. The higher test speeds indicate that this could be one of the fastest and most competitive Goody's Dash Series races yet at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
National television coverage of this event will give race fans across the country an opportunity to see the NASCAR superstars of the future as they race towards the pinnacle of stock car racing at one of the premier racing facilities in the country.
