CP3 STILL HOLDS ROOKIE POINTS LEAD
Charles Powell III turned some heads in his debut at Bristol Motor Speedway. Powell, known as CP3, and his Alibi's Racing Team finished second to Brian Sockwell in the NASCAR Goody's Dash 150 and was named Rookie of the Race. It was his third top five and six top ten of the year. He remains ninth in the season point standings and first in the" Rookie of the Year "points. "This Alibi's Racing Ponitiac was right,'' the driver of the Jazzy Power Chairs, Summers Roofing, Palmetto Auto Auction Pontiac Sunfire said. "Thanks to a hard working crew, they made my first run at Bristol awesome! Jan Smith builds a motor to run the distance." The race was a morale booster for the team after the car was damaged in its previous effort at Hickory Motor Speedway. Team owner Christina Martin said she hopes the performance will help draw some added funding. "It really shows how talented and dedicated Charles is to the team," she said. "I hope this run can make others take a look at the team and bring sponsors on board for the remainder of the season." The team is off until July 5 when the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series races at Summerville Speedway in Summerville, SC.
