Nashville, TN.--Carlin Joseph(C.J.)Alford will race in the 2000 Goody's Dash Series. The formal announcement will be made during a press conference on Friday, October 22, 1999 at 2pm in the Terrace Room at the Radisson Hotel located at 415 Swing Road in Greensboro, NC. Mike Simons, Director of the Goody's Dash Series and Jerry Haislip of Goody's Headache Powder will also be in attendance.

A Niles, Michigan native, C.J. moved to Nashville in 1997 and plans to be one of the few full-time African American drivers in racing history. During a recent interview on a local sports program, C.J. was asked how he felt about being an African-American racing pioneer. His response, "I would definitely be proud to be one of the first African Americans to make it big time, but that is not my motivation. I will gladly step up to the plate, but I'm here to race."
